Salts Mill

Strip out and refurbishment project in Saltaire – a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Overview

Project Interiors entered into a rigorous tender process with Trident Building Consultancy in mid-August 2019 and were incredibly pleased to be selected as main contractor.

It was paramount that the project was completed by early December to allow BTL to move from their current premises to Salts Mill in January. This gave Project Interiors a very strict time scale of 9 weeks and with a massive amount of work to do the programme was particularly fast moving. With a full strip out of M&E, flooring and plaster work we were required to work seven days a week & double shifts to get to the installation phase quickly.

Designed by This Is Interiors in Leeds, there were a wealth of original features to expose as well as protect. One of our particular favourite features was the enormous RSJ and vibrant red brick work above the window elevation facing the Leeds Liverpool canal. The steel was shot blasted and the brick work sealed and up-lit to create a stunning feature.

The fit out also included flooring details, bespoke steel mesh solutions to accommodate unusual existing roof glazing & AC installations, phone booths & meeting rooms, offices, tea points, feature lighting, decoration, recording studio, gym, shower rooms and prayer room.

The office generally is open plan with a central hub of meeting rooms on top of which is housed the plant room for the space. Designed to house 300+ employees, with a wealth of flexible and collaborative working spaces the office is now a hive of activity.
